Prof. Surindar Mohan Marwah Award

The Professor Surindar Mohan Marwah Award was instituted by Professor Surindar Mohan Marwah in 1993, Varanasi. This award is conferred upon a scientist for the research work carried out in the field of Geriatrics.

Prof. B. K. Aikat Oration Award

The Professor B. K. Aikat Oration Award was instituted by Dr. Meera Aikat in 1984 in memory of her husband Prof. B. K. Aikat, a biomedical scientist. This award is conferred upon a scientist for the research work carried out in the field of tropical diseases.

Prof. B. C. Srivastava Foundation Award (Community Medicine)

The Professor B. C. Srivastava Foundation Award was instituted in 1987 by the students and colleagues of (Late) Prof. B. C. Srivastava, Head of the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, K. G. Medical College, Lucknow. This prize is awarded to a scientist for work in the field of community medicine carried out in medical colleges/recognized institutions.

Novartis Oration Award for research in the field of Cancer

The Novartis Oration Award for Research in the field of Cancer was originally instituted in 1970 by M/s Sandoz India Limited in the field of Cancer Research and renamed as Novartis Oration Award after the merger of Sandoz India Ltd. with Hindustan Ciba-Geigy Ltd. in 1997. This prize is conferred upon a scientist for his/her contributions in the field of cancer research carried out for the control, prevention and cure of cancer.

Icmr M. N. Sen Oration Award

Dr. M. N. Sen Oration Award was instituted in 1977 by Dr. K. N. Sen, former Professor of Medicine, School of Tropical Medicine, Kolkata in memory of his brother Shri M. N. Sen. This award is given to a scientist for the sustained research work carried out in the field of practice of medicine (clinical, laboratory or therapeutic).

ICMR Lala Ram Chand Kandhari Award

The ICMR Lala Ram Chand Kandhari Award was instituted by Prof. K. C. Kandhari, former Head of the Department of Dermatology and Venerology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, in memory of his (Late) father. The award is given to a scientist for research in the field of dermatology and sexually transmitted diseases.

Dr. Y. S. Narayana Rao Oration Award (Microbiology)

The Y. S. Narayana Rao Oration Award was instituted by Smt. Kamala Narayana Rao in 1972, in memory of her husband (Late) Dr. Y. S. Narayana Rao, former Director of King Institute of Preventive Medicine, Guindy, Chennai. It is an award given to a scientist for carrying out sustained research work in the field of microbiology.

Dr. Vidya Sagar Award

The Dr. Vidya Sagar Award was instituted in 1985 by faculty of the Department of Psychiatry, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, in memory of Dr. Vidya Sagar, former Professor of Psychiatry, Medical College, Rohtak. It is awarded to an eminent scientist for the outstanding contributions made in the field of mental health.

Dr. P. N. Raju Oration Award

The Dr. P. N. Raju Oration Award was instituted in 1965 by Dr. Narsimha Raju, a Medical Practitioner of Vishakhapatnam. This prize is awarded to a scientist for his/her work in any subject of national importance in the field of medicine or public health.

Dr. M. K. Seshadri Prize

The Dr. M. K. Seshadri Prize was instituted in 1977 by Smt. Seshadri in memory of her husband. It is offered to a scientist for outstanding contributions made in the field of community medicine.

Drs. Kunti & Om Prakash Oration Award

The Drs. Kunti & Om Prakash Oration Award was instituted in 2005 by Messrs Vipul and Rahul Prakash in memory of their parents, Drs. Kunti and Om Prakash, This award is conferred on a scientist for excellence achieved in the field of biomedical sciences.

BGRC Silver Jubilee Oration Award (Haematology / Immunohaematology)

The BGRC Silver Jubilee Oration Award was instituted in 1982 by the ICMR-National Institute of Immunohaematology, Mumbai (former by Blood Group Reference Centre) of the ICMR. This award is granted to a scientist for his/her research work carried out over a period of time in the field of haematology /immunohaematology.

Smt. Kamal Satbir Award

Smt. Kamal Satbir Award was instituted in 1987 by Commodore Satbir, AVSM, I.N. (Retd.) in memory of wife Smt Kamal for significant research contribution by young scientists in biomedical sciences. This prize is awarded for the best published research work on in the field of non-tuberculous Chest Diseases, especially Respiratory Allergy and Chronic Obstructive Lung Diseases pertaining to mechanism and causation of the diseases, their prevention and / or management.

Shakuntala Amir Chand Prizes

The Shakuntala Amir Chand Prize was instituted in 1953 by (Late) Major General Amir Chand for significant research contribution by young scientists in biomedical sciences. This prize is awarded for the best published research work on any subject in the field of biomedical science including clinical research.

ICMR Prize for Biomedical Research Conducted in Under-Developed Areas

The ICMR Prize for Biomedical Research Conducted in Underdeveloped Areas was instituted by the ICMR in 1983 for scientists who have contributed significantly to any field of biomedical sciences and is granted for the work carried out in underdeveloped areas of the country.

ICMR Prize for Biomedical Research for Scientists Belonging to Under-Privileged Communities

The ICMR Prize for Biomedical Research for Scientists Belonging to Underprivileged Communities was instituted by ICMR in 1983 for scientists belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/ Backward Classes and who have contributed significantly to the field of biomedical sciences. This prize is offered to a research scientist for his/her outstanding and sustained contributions in any field of biomedical sciences.

ICMR Kshanika Oration Award

The ICMR Kshanika Oration Award was instituted in 1977 by Dr K. N. Sen, former Professor of Medicine, School of Tropical Medicine, Kolkata. This prize is awarded to a woman scientist for her meritorious work carried out in any of the branches of Biomedical Sciences.

Basanti Devi Amir Chand Prize

The Basanti Devi Amir Chand Prize is the earliest instituted award of ICMR, founded in 1953 by (Late) Major General Amir Chand for the significant research contributions made by scientists in the field of biomedical sciences. This prize is awarded to a research scientist engaged in any area of biomedical sciences.

ICMR-CNMC STS Excellence Award

The Basanti Devi Amir Chand Prize is the earliest instituted award of ICMR, founded in 1953 by (Late) Major General Amir Chand for the significant research contributions made by scientists in the field of biomedical sciences. This prize is awarded to a research scientist engaged in any area of biomedical sciences.

ICMR Smt. Swaran Kanta Dingley Oration Award

ICMR Smt. Swarn Kanta Dingley Oration Award was instituted in 1984 by Dr. H. B. Dingley in the memory of his wife Smt. Swarn Kanta Dingley. This prize is awarded to an Indian scientist for outstanding contribution in the field of Reproductive Biology.

ICMR Chaturvedi Kalawati Jagmohan Das Memorial Award

The ICMR Chaturvedi Kalawati Jagmohan Das Memorial Award was instituted in 1975 by Dr. S. P. Chaturvedi in memory of his parents. This prize is awarded to a scientist for his/her work in the field of Cardiovascular Disease.

Dr. Prem Nath Wahi Award

The Dr. Prem Nath Wahi Award was instituted in 1990 by (Late) Dr. P. N. Wahi, former DirectorGeneral, ICMR for significant contributions made by a scientist in the field of basic and/or clinical cytology and/or preventive oncology.

Dr. M. O. T. IY Enga R Memorial Award

The Dr. M. O. T. Iyengar Memorial Award was instituted in 1983 by Smt. Rukmani Iyengar to honour a scientist for carrying out research in the field of malaria, filariasis, plague or medical entomology.

Dr. J. B. Srivastav Award

The Dr. J. B. Srivastav Oration Award was instituted in 1978 by Mrs. J. Srivastav in memory of her husband (Late) Dr. J. B. Srivastav, former Director-General of Health Services. It is an award for the work carried out by a scientist in the field of virology.

Dr. D. N. Prasad Memorial Oration Award

The Dr. D. N. Prasad Memorial Oration Award was instituted in 1991 by Dr. G. V. Satyavati, former Director-General of ICMR. This prize is awarded to an Indian scientist for work in the field of pharmacology.

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Centenary Award for Excellence in Biomedical Research

The Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Centenary Award for Excellence in Biomedical Research was instituted in the year 1991-92 as part of the Dr. Ambedkar Birth Centenary celebrations. It is awarded to a scientist for excellence in any field of biomedical research.

Major General Saheb Singh Sokhey Award

The Major General Saheb Singh Sokhey award was instituted in 1988 in accordance with the will of Major General Saheb Singh Sokhey and is granted to a scientist for his outstanding contributions in the field of communicable diseases, significantly adding to the existing knowledge in the field.

ICMR Tilak Venkoba Rao Award

The ICMR Tilak Venkoba Rao Award was instituted by the ICMR in 1982 for scientists who have contributed significantly to field of Psychological Medicine or Reproductive Physiology on alternate year and this year the Award is granted for the work carried out in field of Psychological Medicine.

ICMR Prize for Biomedical Research for Scientists Belonging to Under-Privileged Communities

The ICMR Prize for Biomedical Research for Scientists belonging to Underprivileged Communities was instituted by the ICMR in 1983 for scientists who belong to under privileged communities and have contributed significantly to any field of biomedical sciences.

Dr. H. B. Dingley Memorial Award (Paediatrics)

Dr. H.B. Dingley Memorial Award was instituted in 1988 by Smt. Deepika Kumar in memory of her father, (Late) Dr. H. B. Dingley. This prize is awarded to an Indian scientist for outstanding contribution in the field of Paediatrics.

Dr. V. N. Patwardhan Prize

The Dr. V. N. Patwardhan Prize was instituted in 1973 by Smt. Shanta Patwardhan in memory of her husband Dr. V.N. Patwardhan, former Director of the ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad. This prize is awarded to a scientist below 40 years of age for outstanding work carried out in India on fundamental, clinical or field studies in 'Nutritional Sciences'.

Jalma Trust Fund Oration Award (Leprosy)

The JALMA Trust Fund Oration Award for Leprosy and Other Mycobacterial Diseases was instituted by National JALMA institute for Leprosy & Other Mycobacterial Diseases, Agra for scientists who have contributed significantly in the field of leprosy and other mycobacterial diseases.

ICMR Chaturvedi Ghanshyam Das Jaigopal Memorial Award

The ICMR Chaturvedi Ghanshyam Jaigopal Memorial Award was instituted in 1985 by Dr S. P. Chaturvedi in memory of his parents. This prize is awarded to a scientist for his/her work in the field of Immunology.

Dr. J. B. Srivastv Oration Award

The Dr J. B. Srivastav Oration Award was instituted in 1978 by Mrs. J. Srivastav in 1978, in memory of her husband Dr J. B. Srivastav, former Director-General of Health Services. It is an award for the work carried out by a scientist in the field of virology.

Dr. T. Ramachandra Rao Award (Medical Entomology)

The Dr T. Ramachandra Rao Award was Instituted in 1985 by the children of late Dr T. Ramachandra Rao, an entomologist and malariologist, also former Director of the National Institute of Virology (ICMR), Pune. This prize is awarded to a scientist for his- her research contributions in the field of medical entomology.

Dr. Dharamvir Datta Memorial Oration Award

The Dr Dharamvir Datta Memorial Oration Award Instituted by Dr Usha Datta, in memory of her husband, late Dr Dharamvir Datta, former Head of the Department of Hepatology, PGIMER, Chandigarh. It is awarded to a scientist (medical or non-medical) for work carried out over the last five years in the field of Liver Diseases in India.

Dr Subhas Mukherjee Award

Dr Subhas Mukherjee Award was Instituted by ICMR in the year 2012 in the memory of Dr Subhas Mukherjee. This award is granted to a scientist for outstanding contributions, in the field of assisted reproductive technology, reproductive biology & endocrinology and reproductive health in general.
